A subsidiary of ELONA Biotechnologies, Inc. located in Greenwood, Indiana, R & D Enterprises LLC is a technology leader in proteomics, process development and characterization of therapeutic proteins. With offices, laboratories and production facilities located south of Indianapolis, the company is involved in the development and production of human insulin, insulin analogs, growth hormones and other “follow-on” proteins to treat chronic diseases. R & D has a unique portfolio of intellectual property and the capability to produce Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) under cGMP conditions for clinical trials. Through collaborative ventures with industry partners and leading academic institutions R & D skilled team of scientists develops, operates and licenses innovative production processes for both novel and bioequivalent protein products.
Mr. Zimmerman brings over 38 years of experience in purifying and characterizing proteins from microgram to gram scale under GLP and GMP guidelines. Mr. Zimmerman with his wife Donna Zimmerman are co-founders of R & D Enterprises LLC. R & D was launched in 2006. Prior to R & D Enterprises LLC, Ron was the President and Chief Scientist of Indiana Protein Technologies (Greenwood, IN). He and Donna Zimmerman co-founded the Company in 1997 and managed it until its sale to IVAX Corporation in 2001. From 2001 to 2006 Ron and Donna lead IPT as a division of IVAX Corporation until its sale to TEVA in 2006. IPT was a progressive biotech company that identified, purified, and characterized proteins from microgram to gram scale. During this period Indiana Protein Technologies (IPT) successfully did contract research and development, on potential protein products, for several pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies including Eli Lilly and Co., Millenium, Exoxemis, Biogen, Ontogeny, Breakthrough Technologies, Cook Biotech and others. Mr. Zimmerman was a Senior Scientist with Eli Lilly & Company for 28 years. He dealt with large scale purification of proteins for NMR and Crystallography using LC-MS to characterize proteins, used tandem mass spectrometry to quantitate protein in biological systems, set-up of GMP facility and developed GMP and QA procedures for clinical trial material. Mr. Zimmerman is an avid golfer. He has published over 20 publications, presented many oral presentations and has ten patents. He has a Masters in Physiology and Biochemistry and was a Graduate Teaching Fellow.

Zimmerman brings over 30 years of clinical and regulatory affairs, financial aspects, INA, NDA and regulatory submissions, and clinical study management. Mrs. Zimmerman with her husband Ron Zimmerman are co-founders of R & D Enterprises LLC. R & D was launched in 2006. Prior to R & D Enterprises LLC, Donna was the Director Clinical Affairs/Regulatory Affairs of Indiana Protein Technologies (Greenwood, IN). She and Ron Zimmerman co-founded the company in 1997 and managed it until its sale to IVAX Corporation in 2001. Mrs. Zimmerman managed her own clinical trial management company which included contract development, protocol development, site selection, pre-study visits, site initiation, monitor selection, site termination, training physicians and nurses on new protocols, reviewing clinical research professional’s site visit reports, project tracking, and sponsor contact site visits. Mrs. Zimmerman is a FAA licensed pilot and is a member of AOPA. She is also a volunteer and a Member of the Johnson County Humane Society. Mrs. Zimmerman has a PhD in Health Research Administration, holds a Masters in Business, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Biology, and an A.S. in nursing.
